The Sac City grading scale thread got me wondering what the cut off percentages are for different schools. At my school your exam scores must average 72% or over. 71.9 is a failing grade. What about your program?

That is absolutely insane!
I agree! It's awful because people who are actually doing fairly well by any other standards can (and do) end up failing. You have to be nearly perfect to get A's. It's rough!!

85% or better is passing, 84% is failing. Our grading scale is pretty high as well--96%+ is an A, 93-95% is an A-, 90-92% is a B+, etc.
Wow! What's the pass rate at the school?
At my school, it's 80% or higher to pass! I'm satisfied with that because the pass rate is currently 100%.

Wow!
I have no idea what the pass rate is, but we started out with about 70 students and now, one semester from graduating, we are down to about 35 or so. I noticed that several people fail each semester, but the vast majority end up re-taking the class rather than dropping out of the program, so I would say about 10 or so people who are now in my class started out in the class ahead of mine (or even the class ahead of that one). It sucks because tuition is really pricey, so to have to re-take something hits people pretty hard financially. I have no idea why they have the bar set so high; we have the highest cut off point for passing of any school in the area.

I seriously thought I misread that...ridiculous. High tuition and those grade requirements? It's a wonder your class started with 70 because one look at that and I would've been headed for the door! You're a beast for staying in that program. I hope there's huge incentive for staying there.
As for myself, I go to a school of apparent slackers cuz we only need a 75% to pass

A lot of my classmates would love to be at your school! Ours is 77% to pass with a C. Anything below is a fail.We need 85% for a B and 93% for an A. Kind of sucks. I know they are trying to keep their stellar NCLEX pass rates, but from my observation this semester they will be failing students who certainly could pass the NCLEX. The local University nursing school only requires 70% for a C.

Wow! I cannot imagine some of these incredibly high numbers. My nursing school minimum passing grade is a 76. They don't round, so a 75.99 is a fail.
Lab, seminar and clinical are not graded. They are pass/fail and if you fail one of the, you fail the course regardless of your lecture exam average.

Some of those programs sound insane! I do agree that it's a bit unfair to cut out students that could probably pass the NCLEX just because they couldn't make an 80%. Now I feel very lucky to be my program and while I don't always score over 80 on my tests, I feel like I'm getting adequate preparation for the NCLEX

adn 70% test average.
you could have a 75 but if your test average is below 70 you will have to sit out.
