Whats a good 1st CNA job/location in Arizona?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hey Everyone,

I will graduate (God willing) with my BSN 4/2015, however I really want to get my feet in the door in the medical field with my CNA. Where is a good place in Arizona to start?

Specializes in Long term care.

Any nursing home. After 6 months experience in a nursing home you will be able to go almost anywhere.

Couldn't say the same for assisted living or home care. And most hospitals won't hire a new CNA unless they have the 6 months of LTC in.

Specializes in hospice.

I personally know three members of my own CNA class, including myself, who got hired by the largest hospital system in Arizona with no CNA experience. Just apply for everything. You never know. If you know anyone already working there, use their name as a reference. It can really help.

are you talking about Banner? Good gravy that place is impossible to get into.

Specializes in hospice.

I am talking about Banner. Everyone says it's impossible to get into, and yet we did. *shrug*

My two friends still work for them. One has since earned her RN and is a floor nurse, and the other is a CNA in one of their PICUs.

Apply @ Mayo Clinic. They are exemplary in so many ways.

And hospitals will take new CNA's w/o experience if you rock the interview.

Being in nursing school should help.

Keep in mind, if hired as a tech in the hospital, this may be your key to a job offer as a new grad.
