I am a first year nursing student and this quarter I am taking pharmacology. I am finding myself having difficulty grasping some of the concepts and was wondering if anone could recommend a book that would help me better understand the subject. Thank you for any help you can offer.

I used this book, it helped me pass the class with an A. The texbook was too complicated, when it boils down the only thing you need to know is mechanism of the drug, the class, side effects, contraindications and nursing implications. THATS IT! Good luck to you, you will pass.
Thank you!

Look into "Integrated Cardiopulmonary Pharmacology 2nd Ed." I utilised this book for first semester pharmacology in my respiratory programme. While not a comprehensive book, the overview of the basic concepts is excellent in this book. The essential elements of pharmacokinetics, dynamics, and physiology are easy to understand and presented with the student in mind.
In addition, concepts such as inflammation, the nervous system, and the action of adrenergic agents are covered and easy to comprehend. I highly recommend this book to any entry level provider wanting to learn the fundamentals of pharmacology. In addition, it is does not have the nursing student in mind and you need not worry about the inane coverage of the nursing process with this book.
