Looking to get RN to BSN ASAP. online 100%. If anyone has input of one that can be done in less than a year for the least expense , would appreciate any info. It's daunting to have to sift through hundreds of them . don't have time. They must be accredited of course. Thanks

I paid $5,800 in tuition and fees to complete the online RN-to-BSN program through Western Governors Univ. It took me 34 credits and 10 months to complete while working full-time night shift.
Thanks, will put that on my list to check

Ok, one more . for you to complete the his program in that short amt of time for Nope. I worked full-time nights while completing the program. All I "gave up" was 15 hours per week to study. Some weeks, I did nothing. I took a couple of out-of-state vacations while enrolled. It's a competency program. If you know the material, you take a test and hurry up and earn your 3 credits. It's not as if you spend an entire semester on a course. I typically spent a few weeks working on each course at the most.

Wow, youre convincing me. I mean most of the material I would be prey familiar with , having come across all kinds of situations and work places. Have been doing agency work and school nursing, plus clinics, group homes, psych, special needs, IHS, ... theres not much I havent come across. Do they require a clinical that you can just use your work for. ? Plus are they regionally accredited? I just havent had time to call them back. I need to do this to avoid limitations in community health and school nursing. Thanks
There's a 90-hour community health practicum that could potentially be done at your workplace. It is self-organized and consists of phone calls, interviews, etc.

I want to add something... WGU does have some tests (which are pretty easy) but it also has a LOT of papers to write and some of them are not that short! Biochemistry has 5 tasks which are projects (you make physical models and answer questions from a rubric)... They are redesigning that course because people are having a lot of trouble getting the information they need. And this is not the first redesign. There is a physical assessment course in which you have to video yourself. There are big research papers in some of the courses. You need to know APA formatting and then your papers go through a turn it in program for plagurism. The program was redone within the past couple of years. I signed up with high hopes, and I will tell you it is not that easy. Sorry, but after signing up I became really upset. I am very pro online, but this degree is now a lot of work and people are taking much longer to do it. They do not tell you prior to signing up that they have made it a lot harder for accreditation...

I will chime in having completed the program in the midst of some of the redesigns. It was hard, it was a lot of work, but it is doable. If you talk to anyone who graduated before 2016 expect their experience to be outdated. I completed 40 credits in 10-11 months. I dedicated 15-20 hours a week minimum to school.
I disagree strongly with the comment that said the information to complete the tasks wasn't available. It most definitely was. In my experience people who entered the program thought it was going to be easy, and got frustrated when they had to learn completely new content to complete a task. Many people assume that because the program is competency based and they have experience it will be easy. It's not. Different nurses found different classes easy based on personal experience, but overall it's a challenging well designed program.
Ok, thanks for your opinion. It's just a little confusing when some say they did the whole program in 9 or 10 months and others were longer, with similar credits. I still don't get why they are only accepting 59 of my previous credits. That leaves me with around 61 credits to do. I will ask them tomorrow. They need to accept more than that
I too, had 40 credits and found the courses that were test courses easy... I think it's great if people were able to complete 40 credits in 11 months! God bless! I found Biochemistry very challenging in terms of the material! Maybe it was just me, maybe the course just hit me the wrong way (although I've never had an issue with science classes prior to this). I really had trouble hunting down info... I also found making models, combined with essays in APA format extremely annoying. I wish they would have just accepted one of my other science courses (with a grade of A) It's all about what works for an individual! I've got to be honest and say I don't love writing long papers and I don't love project based courses... Give me a course with tests instead any day! :)
