What do YOU wear on a interview?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Just curious. I currently live in FL and everyone is very laid back here. I used to work in corporate before I switched careers to nursing and people would come in with a skirt and top or guys would come in with pants and shirt but no tie or blazer.

On top of that, one of my teachers said to wear a nice pair of scrubs to the interview so they can "envision" you working there as a nurse. I think that's WRONG but is it? I have interviews scheduled for next week and I'm a new grad.. thanks

You want to look professional, NO scubs... Good luck!

:uhoh3: So I guess all staff nurses look unprofessional at work all day every day. WOW what a bummer !!

I had an interview today and was obsessing over what to wear. It's super hot out, so I really didn't want to wear my usual black slacks and blouse, so I work some stone colored pants and a really crisp white shirt. I wish I could just wear scrubs - that would make things so easy.

I always wear Dockers and a button-down shirt with loafers. Yes, it's a bit conservative but that's how I dress.

Now how I ACT is another story....hehe!

Do your best to look polished and professional. Unfortunately too many nurses show up in jeans and t-shirt for interviews (we do peer interviews) and it looks as if they just stopped by on their way to the park. The total "package" is being assessed and speaks volumes for or against you.
