I've heard some doozies for call INS to work. 1. Dog having puppies 2. I'm having a miscarriage when I could hear a party in the background 3. I'm tired 4. I worked yesterday 5. Out of gas 6. I'm going out of town
just to name a few
what excuses have you heard for someone to use to not come to work
As a previous House supervisor I never asked why, most would just say they were sick, that is all. If they are sick stay home, if they are faking it so be it, i never asked what was wrong. however most would say they were sick with something plausible at least and never anything as stupid as some of the excuses posted here.
A nurse called me at home on a Saturday morning at 8 am to tell me that she was not going to come in the next morning because she had company coming from out of town. I asked her how long she had known that and she told me "a month". She found a replacement but she was mad as hell.
I love some of the ones above. Great!!!
I love having the employees call for the death of their grandmothers.... over and over. Just how many do you have?

In the situation I described, the huge old tree crushed the roof and part of the brick wall in, raining debris all over us. The tree itself landed a foot away from my then two-year-old, who was so terrified by what had happened that he did not speak again for nearly two months. Any job that would have required my or my husband's attendance on that day under those circumstances would not have been worth keeping, at least in my book. Tornadoes do terrible damage as well, so we in Ohio aren't naive when it comes to extreme home damage from storms and high winds, but that was an extraordinary situation requiring our presence.
The poster who made the original point about a hurricane excuse emphasized it was silly because of the person's distance from the coast. All I was trying to point out is that distance from the coast doesn't necessarily mean one is completely insulated from major hurricane damage or injury. Yes, most of the time it's a weak, goofy explanation, but not always.
