I don't start until January, but have been told by current students that in lab we have to wear a plain white crew-neck style t-shirt with sweat pants (no writing, stripes, designs, etc).
For clinical, our school is still using the old-fashioned white uniforms. :imbar We also have to wear plain white shoes w/absolutely no writing on them. Kind of sucks for me because I'm looking for shoes, and most have some sort of writing (be it a logo or brand name). Dansko's don't, but I have wide feet and I have heard their shoes run very narrow.
We had to wear regular clothing. We were specifically told NOT to wear scrubs to lab because they wanted to ensure we weren't wearing work scrubs to school (carrying the nasty bugs). Frankly, I find scrubs really comfy and would rather have worn scrubs than regular clothing -- especially with all the moving and such we do.
Oh we had the tube tops and short shorts too...and we're a small catholic school. I can't believe she didn't get sent home. Apparently one kid was made to turn his t-shirt inside out that said "orgasm doner" on the front of it. Apparently that was more offending then the view of T&A I was getting from the girl infront of me. *shrugs*
I start my nursing program in January and I was just kind of curious as to what student wear during lab? Is it common to wear scrubs or usually just regular clothing? I know schools are all different. Just wanted to hear what others wear.
We wear regular clothes unless it's Returns or Simulations then we have to wear our clinical get up.
