What type of test did you get during your job interview?

Nurses LPN/LVN

I'm a new LPN grad.

I was curious, what type of tests I should be expecting when I go on my interviews.

Dosage...meds...priority care etc.

What type of tests did you get?

In almost a decade of nursing, I have never had to take any tests when submitting employment applications or interviewing. The major exception would be the personality tests that some hospital systems make applicants take after submitting online job applications.

One job gave a personality test. Questions like would you steal from an employer, would you tell on a coworker who was stealing, etc. Some questions were hard to answer, like have you ever in your life used an illicit substance or have you ever in your life been in a physical altercation.

Another job, my current job, they asked everyone to fill out a shirt answer questionnaire explaining how you would deal with certain situations. I was also asked a few dosage calc questions and a few questions about the different types of common meds used, and when.

For an agency position, I had to take an online test that was similar to nursing school style questions, with the exception of very detailed insulin questions.

I had one that asked me meds, priority, charting with some SATA's.

For my current job (I work for a large faith-based/corporate health care company), part of the job app process included a personality test that is commonly used in employment screenings. Sorry, don't know the name, but it is used to determine personality strengths and weaknesses, character type, etc.

When I made the short list, I had to take a drug/pharmaceutical test that included questions on calculations, general drug classifications, and other drug-related stuff. Got one question wrong, that is how many mls in an ounce. I said 20. WRONG! I will remember the correct answer for the rest of my life!

Best of luck to you!

I've had to take a couple of those as well. I really didn't think anything of it as I've always worked agency (now full time but previously part time). I'd swear they are all using copy/paste for the questions.

Personality tests are not something I've ever been subjected to related to employment. Although I recall years ago being given one previous to admission to the pre med (Biology/Chemistry) double major program in college. At the time I was insulted. Yet I did find the results to be interesting. Even nowadays, without that test I'd be forced to google ENTP lol!

The ones I hear are being given in relation to our profession don't sound like personality tests to me. More like a spinoff of a corporate risk assessment questionnaire given to entry level personnel. But I can't say for sure as I've not viewed them myself. It's second hand information that was shared with me.

My hesitancy with agencies is bc they dont give you a cut of what you would make. I figure cut the middle man out and do for myself what they would have done when they get to me!

Didn't have to take any tests during interview process but once hired I had to take a calculation/med test during initial orientation.

Didn't get dosage yet.

Some agencies will. However I avoid them as it looks wonderful when the pay rolls in... at least until you have to file taxes quarterly due to being labeled an independent contractor. It's migrane inducing.
