What is a trauma nurse clinician? Here is the job posting....

Responsible for managing a caseload of patients admitted to Level I, II and III Trauma Services by facilitating, coordinating and enhancing care through clinical expertise, communication and implementation of quality management protocols to minimize complications, maximize effective communications and ensure optimal use of patient and [hospital] resources.

It sounds to me like it is basically a case manager. They are asking for 3 years of ER/ICU experience. Does anyone have this job or have any insight into what this is??

THANKS!!!

Specializes in Emergency Dept.

Our Trauma Coordinator reviews all trauma cases, helps educate staff, reviews trauma guidelines with the trauma surgeons and any issues that they have had. She is basically our end all be all of trauma - the person to go to if you have any questions about the equipment or the best way to care for a patient. She is also the one who reviews the time it takes for everything - how long from accident to EMS, EMS to hospital, hospital arrival to arrival of trauma surgeon, hospital arrival to time of X-Ray, Ct, etc.

Specializes in Emergency & Trauma/Adult ICU.

Agree, this is a case management position. "Managing a caseload of patients" indicates active involvement with current patients, not just QA & trauma program coordination.

Specializes in Spinal Cord injuries, Emergency+EMS.
