The college I attend will be offering A&P1 and A&P2 in six week increments over the summer. I would be able to do the lecture portion of A&P1 online and go to campus for the lab. Both lecture and lab for A&P2 are being only offered on campus. Would you consider taking either class in such a short time span? Would you consider taking another class along with a six week A&P1 or a six week A&P2?
I know A&P is a lot of studying. I'd like input from anyone who has already taken A&P. Please tell me how manageable you think it would be for me to take these classes given my situation--I'm a Stay at home mom to a 2 year-old and a 10 month-old.
I would really appreciate any feedback anyone has!
Thank you in advance for any advice!
At my school, the dis-continued the summer anatomy class because they felt the students weren't learning enough info. I'm taking anatomy right now, it's a 16 week course and I have 3 hours of lecture and 6 hours of lab a week. We spent a few weeks on certain systems and it was still overwhelming! There is just so much info. I have 4 young children, so I understand how difficult it is juggling family and school. If you do take the class, I wish you the best of luck! I'm also taking micro right now and it's so overwhelming taking two classes, but I know I can do it. I'm almost done, just one more month!
Everyone is different, so you know your learning abilities better than anyone. If you feel you can do it, I'm sure you can. You aren't the first and you won't be the last :)
I think it really depends on you. At my school, A&P II is almost strictly Physiology--whereas A&P I incorporates more Anatomy than Physiology (although it's a blend of the two). I'm taking A&P II over the summer---but our session is only 4 weeks. I'm doing really well in A&P I, so that gives me a little bit of confidence to think that I can do it. I also am a SAHM to a 25 month old and a 4 year old and my husband travels 3 days a week most weeks. Childcare for just this one course during the summer is going to cost me well over $2000, but where there is a will, there is a way. I say go for it!
I just posted a thread asking the same thing. I'm taking A&P1 over a 5 week period (it will be the only class I'm taking). I work full-time and have a very supportive husband and a 4 year old and a 7 year old. I haven't had a science class in over 12 years (since high school), but I'm really determined to do it. I just went on my lunch today to buy the A&P for dummies book, to get a head start. I will also be buying some coloring books and flashcards. Arm yourself with resources early before class starts so that you're not "totally in the dark" once classes begin. Science (apart from math) was my worst subject in high school, but I'm at a different point in my life with a high level of determination and I have a previous bachelor's degree and have taken courses before that require a high level of difficulty.
I'm hoping for the best. Also, once you find out who your professors will be go on ratemyprofessors.com and do a search and see what other students are saying. - Could be a HUGE lifesaver.

Im taking two online courses as well as A&P this summer and still trying to work around 32-36 hours. I think it just depends on how well you manage your time and how quickly you are able to learn the material.
