What did you think about Human A&P?

We used the Holes Anatomy book and it had a website that helped me tremendously. I used flashcards also. My sister and I are both trying to get into the program and are taking our classes together so we quiz each other daily on the material. It helps if you have a study buddy. I had a friend who took A&P with Chem and she got an A in Chem and a B in A&P. I'm taking A&P 2 and Chem this semester so I'll let you know. Good luck to you. :)

Like many of you, I really enjoyed A&P I, however, it was a lot of material to learn and I did feel like I was cramming all the time. As a matter of fact, I am reviewing my notes and realize how much I have already forgotten. It seems to be coming back to me though. I especially want to get familiar with membrane potentials and action potentials. That seems to be the foundation for everything else. I took 14 hours and managed to make an A, so it can be done, but I wished I had been able to take one less class so I could have absorbed more.

I didn't think A & P I or II was hard. I studied hard in I and pulled off an A+ and got an A in II with no studying at all. I made a lot of note cards and spent extra time in the lab going over stuff for the hands on practical. My instructor was also awesome and I think that makes a difference. It would have really sucked had it been dull.

Hello,

I first took Physiology and got a C+. I used the flashcard method and this didn't work for me (everyone is different) This class was really challenging for me because it's more in depth than I was used to. I then took Anatomy and loved it. I got a B but it was ALOT of hard work. I spent most of my spare time in the Anatomy Lab. I took Physiology again hoping to improve my grade. This time I used a new method. I memorized all my professors notes and while memorizing I really tried to relate what he said to stuff I knew or think about it in a way that I could understand. When I was unable to do this. I read about that subject in the text and that usually cleared up any questions. I got a B the second time I took it. I think taking Anatomy first really helps because you can visualize the stuff you are studying better. I would advise to try taking some of your easier prereqs while doing these classes.

HI, A&PI wasn't that difficult, don't pscyhe yourself out by the class before hand. I think the key to doing well in the class is keeping on top of it everyday and not falling behind. The reason is there is so much info to remember that if you have to resort to cramming then you might get into trouble. Also check around and make sure you get a good teacher as that makes a big difference in how hard or easy the class is also.

I took A&PI, Human development, math and English last semester and managed an A in everything except for the math.(had to ask for an extension because I had to many dealines from work at the same time) If you work full time I wouldn't recommend more then 3 classes. Good luck.

Thanks! I do work fulltime....and right now I am taking 4 classes, but one of them is a P.E class that you go to the gym when you can so hopefully I am not pushing too much. Oh yeah and one of my classes is only 8 weeks....so that is good also

I found A&P I a very informative and enjoyable class. It was somewhat challenging but very interesting. This is large part was due to a very good instructor that knew how to relate what we were learning with aspects of pathophysiology that made a lot of things stick. There is a lot of memorization, especially in A&P I with the bones and muscles. I'm in A&P II right now and it seems like a bit more physiology which I'm also enjoying. I work full-time and am only taking A&P and chemistry this semester. I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you have a full schedule just because it will be harder to actually learn the material beyond rote memorization.

He quizzes on everything and has to be one of the most anal people I have ever met. So I am studying my ass of for the first week and am just going to have to make up rhymes and flash cards! :rolleyes:

I really liked A&P1 and A&P2. Both required a lot of effort. For mw,what worked was to try and read or at least skim chapters before lecture so that instead of having to just take notes, i could be involved in discussions. then,i made myself flashcards. took them everywhere and made piles of what i knew and what i needed practice on. eventually,the pile that i knew was bigger than what i didnt know.If you havnt done bones or muscles,when you start learning them, point to your body as you locate them.this is very helful come test time. good luck
