I was comfortable with the 1 to 8 ratio.
Fantasy 5:1 ((so I can give cares perfectly))
I don't work am shift but at my facility the ratio is 8:1 or 7:1 depends on which wing you are on.
on PM's the ratio is 8:1 or 10:1 depends on which wing you are on. When someone calls in the ratio changes to 10:1 or 12:1 depending on which wing you are on. Those nights suck.
Ideally I think that 8:1 or 7:1 on both AMs and PMs ((personally I think PMs is equally as busy as AMs so they should have the same staffing ratio))
NOC should be 1 wing per each aide. Making that 4 aides on a night shift....right now we have 3 aides on NOC.
I have 19 residents to share with my partner and most of them are 2 person transfers, etc so we don't seperate very much. It is becoming VERY demanding. I think it's because it's a bunch of women! Lol!
So where I am, 6 or 7:1 would be great! That's a perfect world though. There are still some empty beds on our hall and they're really trying to max it out.

Yes, it seems like they're doing that everywhere. Those couple of empty beds are sending the facilities straight into bankruptcy:rolleyes:

At my last job it started at 8 to 1 with residents that were not mobile. Then about 2 weeks after I started working there it went to 12 to 1 and then things got fun and that was morning and evening shift. The TCU unit had 8 to 1.
At the end of my employment they were mixing TCU residents in with the long term care residents and it was not a good mix. Plus we started having many demanding residents. My team ate had one who took at least an hour to get ready in the morning. She also had other residents to get up as well. It was crazy because I was busy trying to get my residents up and was not able to help her much. That gave up like 60 minutes to get up all these people before breakfast trays started to come. Of course we had to try to get up more people after we had breakfast trays out.
