Hello!
I am in my third semester of my BSN program and will be graduating next May. I've started to casually look at what shape the nursing job market is in right now, and from what I can tell the outlook is pretty grim. With that in mind, does anyone (especially those involved with hiring RNs) have any ideas of some actions I should take while I still have time to make myself a more desirable new grad to employers (ideally hospitals) next year?
Any input is very much appreciated. Thank you!

Getting a position as a student nurse intern is ideal. My wife worked as one and was offered three jobs before she even graduated. They pretty much just do CNA work, BUT it gets your foot in the door and lets them know what kind of worker you will be.

I'll be in the 3rd semester of my program this fall and graduating in May as well. I've had my clinical instructor since I started the program and I have her again this semester and I will also have her for my third semester. The best thing about this situation is, she happens to be the Senior DON of the hospital. A hospital that likes to hire fresh BSN grads. Now, that's a way to get in.
