Hey all,

I was just curious to see what other school nurses during the month of December for money. I am a school nurse who is considered PRN and have to find something to get me through, as the school is closed for 4 weeks!! And no, I do not get payed by the school for days I do not work...

Specializes in Telemetry, Gastroenterology, School Nrs.

I am a full-time, certified employee so I a, paid year round, which is nice! Maybe you could find something outside of nursing to do, might be a nice change for those few weeks.

You could apply to PRN at a walk-in clinic or Dr's office. Offices have a lot of vacations to cover around Christmas, Easter, & summer vacation time, as you can imagine.

Start applying now & specify exactly what you are looking for. I think you'll be snatched up pretty quickly! Good luck!

Specializes in School Nursing, Ambulatory Care, etc..

I'm in the same boat as Supernurse01, I get paid year round. Maybe you could do home health - something that is flexible on hours and you could keep one or two pt's during the year for a little extra $$.

I work for a camp as an RN during Christmas break. Some camps will run a week long mini winter camp. Good pay, fun, and I will still have a week off!
