I reallly want to apply to a LPN program but I am worried that it's not going to be possible with having younger children. I am 32 years old and I have a 4 year old and 6 year, the younger one will be in school full time next fall. I have a supportive husband but he leaves the house at 6am and is home at 5pm. He can rearrange his schedule a couple of days whole week. I have no family so would have to be put my kids in before school care. I've been a stay at home for 6 years so the thought to have to put them in before school care at 6:30am every morning is a little overwhelming for me.
I know every program is different but can some of you post what your weekly schedule is?
If anyone have a situation that is similar to mine and you are making it work, please please share with me your story. Nursing has been a dream of mine but I am so scared to pull the trigger.
I am about to start a CNA job so I guess that's a step in the right direction but not somewhere that I want to stay.
(Evening program is not an option for me)
Since you are not working you have a great advantage . My children's childcare hours are 6:30am - 6:30pm. I go to class Mon-Fri 8:am- 2:30 pm but majority of the time, I am out between 1:30pm and 2pm and when I have clinicals, I go to class M/Th/Fri 8am-2:30pm and Clinicals T/W from 7am-1pm. It is hectic and I hate having to take my babies to school so early in the am BUT, this is a sacrafice that I am willing to make and it will be worth it at the end. Good luck with your decision, you are able to make it work and keep us updated :)

My program was Mon thru Thurs 830-230 with clinical days being 730-430. I have three kids 8,5,&2 and it was hectic! I had to quit my full time job and hubby took over all the bills. I only worked every weekend in home health so that work wouldnt interfere with my studies. It was very hard but now that i am finished it was all worth it. Nothing worth having comes easy?
