There are people of all ages wanting to become a nurse. What would you tell them about nursing school or nursing in general?

Didn't Dixie wear high heels with her uniform?

Without looking this up, the woman who played Dixie was married to another actor who played one of the Doctors on the show- his real name was Bobby something- and he penned the great song about Route 66.

Route 66 was like the nursing career, in that it "Winds from Chicago to LA, through miles and miles of clay".

Working as a Nurse is either feast or famine and I had to find some way to tie this tangent back to the topic.

If a person is determined to become a nurse the best advice I can give is remember that determination will be needed. Remember that determination to succeed when faced with adversity because nursing is full of adversity.

Very wise comment, kbrn. Through adversity, such as dealing with unforeseen circumstances, we learn problem-solving processes and grow as individuals and professionals.

We often learn more from our pitfalls than we do our successes.

The vast majority of us endeavor to avoid the pain of adversity.
