Mine is obvious. It's my real name.
I drive a 1978 bile green VW Bus, which I love dearly. I love it so much, I even had it tatooed on my right thigh. Ok, so I'm a little bizarre, but someone has to be, right?
Not bizarre at all! I have a log-in name for the VW club website of jettamom. VW's are cool!
My name on the BB is my maiden name (Pirtle) spelled backwards. I didn't feel like I fit in with my family when I was a teen & chose it as my special moniker.
Mine is a reference to my favorite pastime--swimming. And swimming is the most fitting metaphor for life in general: you need to be smooth, be efficient, make every stroke count, make no waves or energy-wasting splashing, be mindful of the other swimmers yet blissfully absorbed in your own work-out. Just like in your nursing job you want to accomplish alot with the most efficent and conservative output of energy. Streamlined in when you are long, smooth, solitary, strong. I can dream, can't I?
]When I was 1 day short of 11, my all time favorite TV show premeired. On January 15, 1972 EMERGENCY! started a 6 yr. run
The only thing that reflects this in my sign on name is the 51. My sounds for opening, closing etc on my pc has Johnny, Roy and Cap. Also NURSE Dixie McCall.
Johnny says "Squad 51 returning to quarters."
Roy says "LA, Squad 51 available."
Cap says "Station 51 KMG 365"
And Dixie says, " How come we always blame the computer? It only does what people tell it to do."
It was EMERGENCY! that got me interested in medicine. That show helped me to deal with my mother's placenta previa in Feb. and May of that yr. My sister was born on May 31 1972, and my mother is now 72. Roy and Johnny taught me how to critically think my way through problems. My mother's problems taught me to deal with massive amounts of blood at a very young age.
I was going to be a paramedic but my 3 y/o nephew died from crush injuries in Nov. 1977 and I quickly shoved my dream to the far recesses of my mind. I tried again to become a paramedic in 2001, but realized that I couldn't take the aderneline [sp?] rush. I need to KNOW what I am dealing with, I don't like surprises.
I finally found EMERGENCY! on tape and got my first 2 tapes within the last 2 months.
I use these tapes and the ones I taped when EMERGENCY! was on TV Land, to relax after studying for nursing tests. It is interesting to see how much of the medical jargon I understand from the show.
For example, last night a child OD'ed on phenabarbitol and I knew what it was!! :D
Because EMERGENCY! got me interested in my chosen career, I use this sign on name for all my BB's.
Sorry this is so long and sappy but that is why there is a _51 after my name.

Hey I would like to have those sound files if you know how to send them I am listed on my profile you can send email to me from there.
shanti means 'peace' in Hindi. I spent a fair bit of time working and travelling in India, around when I turned 21 and it was a huge part of 'growing up' for me. I learned a lot about myself and about people and about the world around me. I also really try to embody peacefulness in day-to-day life.
And the nurse part, well that's kind of self-explanatory I guess :)
My sign on is a variation of a nickname. M y husband started calling me triscuit while we dated. over the years it was shortened to misty or Ms. T. I use mst on every thing internet. On the other sites I have numbers behind the name that also mean something but I shortened it to MST here.

Well I have always been told "you don't have to be crazy to work here but it helps" I work in a 1600 bed male prison in Oregon and so that is why I am psycho.... When I am in other chat rooms or somewhere online playing cards or games people will say to me..."do you take care of psychos or are you one yourself?" and I always tell them...."Guess.." :chuckle
