I am just so taken back by this... This school is trying to get liscensed to teach a BSN program, they currently only have a diploma program. But the hitch is that they will not be teaching for an entire year because they are going to be "rewriting" the curriculum. They will no longer have a diploma program, only a BSN program, and will be "rolling" thier current students over into the BSN curriculum. I am not sure if the tuition will jump, but it is 14k for the diploma, so I am SURE it will jump for the BSN program! I know the schooling will be much longer! I don't know if students sign a contract before starting, so what if they don't want to go to school for 4 years, and are forced to because they signed a contract! I think it should be their right to decide if they want to go to school for 2 years or 4! What do you think?

A hospital based diploma program in my area recently came to an agreement with a local college to share resources (as in the college can use the nursing program on top of their gen ed to grant BSN degrees). Students can enroll through the college and get the BSN or directly into the diploma program and get the diploma. But the diploma program is 3 years, so for an extra year they can get the BSN.

I think it's the decision of the student if they want to continue. I was in a situation similar to that. The program I'm in now, is a repeat of the same program I started almost a year ago. There were changes in the structure of the program, similar to your sitiuation, "rewriting" curricilium, changes in instructors, and location of the institue. It was not my intention to repeat the same program, but I was told no refund will be given. That was money lost for me because I paid out-of-pocket. I'm now repeating the courses which I find beneficial for me and I do not have to pay any more or extra money.
