No way would I practice without it................NSO is what I have........
There are already many, many threads on this. Just do the search............
And I have been practicing for many, many years and would not do so without it. Just for the piece fo mind.
You wouldn't drive your car without insurance, same thing in my opinion.
there are LOTS of good threads that discuss the pros and cons of malpractice insurance for nurses. I invite you to do a search and see if it's really for you or not! Good luck and welcome to the boards.
Most Nurses that Ive spoken with over the years do carry their own insurance, and it is correct as well that in most cases, lawsuits will be directed twoard the hospital. The problem comes into play when the hospital wins the case, you may run the risk of the the lawyers looking for other avenues..ie; the RNs. If your working for an agency then you really dont need the coverage as you will be covered under their malpractice insurance. I always say better safe than sorry, we unfortunatly live in a society thats gone lawsuit crazy.

I have a friend that happens to be an atty. The stories I hear from her, I would NOT be without my own. Sorry to say but I wouldn't trust a hospital, or health care employer to point the finger,a nd try to place blame elsewhere (the nurse), to get themself out of it.

hello
i was wondering, what malpractice insurance do you all have and how much do you pay for it and through what organization? currently i'm getting a insurance from nso and the cost is $ 40.00 bucks. is our malpractice inusrance really going to protect nurses from lawsuit?
