HI All,

I'm going to be starting my RN program in January and I want to start looking for a scope and BP cuff. I'd like to find a good scope that will last for many years and has good sound. The bookstore sells one at school for about 20 bucks, but I wonder about it's quality. Any suggestions on what to look for?

Thanks!

I'd love feedback on this one, too. I've got a cheapie, but I know I want a "nice" one after I graduate.

Hi gang,

Am an RN with 19 years experience on the job, I made through 3 yrs in ADN school with a cheaper scope and for the first few yrs in practice as well. One to to stay away from is the double tube Spraque-Rapaport ones, they are not real expensive but are heavy, will fall apart when you expect it and aren't that good anyway. The one I am using and a few of my co-horts also have is the Littman Cardiology II, a good scope with extra head covers, not heavy, can hear everything that as a nurse you will ever need and if you shop around online can sometimes find them on sale. Got mine for with my name on it for about $80.00. flaerman :balloons:

Yes get something light weight. I hear many of my classmates complaining about how heavy their double tube scope is after an 8 hour clinical day.

I have a little hearing loss and looked at the very expensive eletronic Littmans but opted for the master cardio because of the warranty! It's got a 7 year warranty on it. The electronic ones only have a 3 year warranty. It's really a great piece of equipment! I love it.
