Just for some fun, I was on my clinical placement recently and a Parkinson's patient asked me, ''Do you like what you're doing?''. I simply smiled and said yes. She looked at me mockingly,''What do you like about it?! Cleaning the poop?'' LOL :nurse:  :speechless: Here goes my attempt to look all professional... Just sharing this with you guys.

I have had this question many times. She gave you a great setup for a joke. When people ask me I say, "Yep, I love poop and pee!" I actually had an addict ask me what we would do with her urine after I did a pregnancy test. She was paranoid that I would do a drug test but I still joked with her. I said, "We pour all the urine samples in a big vat and at the end our shifts we splash each other for fun." The look on her face was priceless because she believed me for a moment. I must really look like I enjoy pee for her believe me so easily. Yes, I'm the comedian nurse.

Would be neat to actually answer honestly

I actually love my job.

Big cheesy answer- I like helping people. Doing things for them that they can't do themselves (including incontinent care, bathing, feeding). I like getting to know my patients. I learn a lot about life in general from my patients and enjoy their interesting stories. I like knowing that even if the may not realize it, that I am making a difference. I have always had what my mother calls, "a servants heart".

I like learning something new every single day.

I like my coworkers. When I spend 12 hours a day 3 days a week with people, they become like family to me. I don't see them outside of work (usually) but I miss them and am glad to see them when I clock in.
