What kind of degree do directors of nursing in nursing homes have? Also, what kind of degree do administrators in nursing homes have? What is the salary like for these positions?

It all depends on your state or facility's requirements. Most DONs in my area are RNs with ADNs..some have BSNs few have MSNs.

Adms have a certification...some have other type of degrees.

Specializes in long term care, school nursing.

At my facility, the DON's have BSN degrees. The administrator has an MSN.

Specializes in Geriatrics, WCC.

I have my ADN, as doing many in the area. My NHA has a bachelor's as is required for the NAB.

Specializes in Gerontology, Med surg, Home Health.

Most DNSs I know have Associate's degrees. I have a Bachelor's degree but it's not in nursing. In Massachusetts there is no reg (surprise!!) on what kind of degree the DNS has as long as she/he is an RN. The ED has to have at least a Bachelor's degree.
