I posted this earlier, but with the updates it disappeared.
I've been looking a research nurse jobs, been using LinkedIn to identify possible positions. But I'm not sure what job titles in research apply to nurses.
Also, I'm not entirely sure where to look. I know universities are a possibility, as well as hospitals and contract research organizations.

When I worked for a CRO the nursing titles were Production Nurse, Safety Nurse, Monitor Nurse, Screening/Consent Nurse, Sub-Investigator (APN required), Clinical Research Coordinator (some CRO's & drug companies strongly prefer RN's in a CRC role or clinical study manager role...usually min. associate's for CRC and min. bachelor's for CSM) We nearly lost a contract with a major drug company since the CRO didn't have an RN (or at least an LPN with a bachelor's degree) in a clinical study manager (CSM) or clinical research coordinator (CRC) role as they felt that nursing education and judgement played a significant role in patient/participant safety. Also check out the International Association of Clinical Research Nurses. This organization is in its fledgling stages, and they're in the process of creating credentialing with the ANCC, which is a 10-year process. Once they do that, that will be another option for credentialing. They just had their annual conference in Maryland in October.

ETA: Not that that will really help you with a job search, but it's an interesting tidbit for other research nurses.

My current title is Sr. Research Nurse; I have been working in clinical trials since 2000.
I have certification with the ACRP.
Many research offices use the title clinical research coordinator. I've held this title as well in the past.
We are looking for research nurses and data coordinators at my university in Kansas City. Send me a message if you are interested!

Can you help me? My name is Linda. I am an RN with my BSN and I live in Beaumont, which is about 85 miles east of Houston. I am looking for a research nursing position. I am excellent with detailed work and have outstanding research, writing, and computer skills. Clinically, I make my best contribution with adults in a self-care mode. I prefer a circumscribed job, with definite responsibilities and definite limits, where I go in, work, and leave. Can you offer any suggestions as to how to start looking? TNX very much!
