Okay, after reading this board about the ADN and BSN programs in California...it is safe to say some wait two years! Someone mentioned they could have gotten their accountant degree by the time they got into nursing school.
So, this has me wondering...what if I just go ahead and get my Baccalaureate degree while applying to nursing schools? Or I could just get my degree and then do the BSN accelerrated program. That way I won't be waiting around for years. I could be accomplishing something by then. What do you all think?

Have you already started on your bachelors in something else? If you have, I would say go ahead and finish it. That's what I would do, because I would hate waiting around and not doing any course work!

im in Medical Assistant program at the local college, it is one yr long, and i have two fellow classmates that completed all their nursing prereqs and while waiting on the 2 yr nursing list are doing this MA program, which takes up one yr, we learn how to draw blood, give injections, and basic pt care. Then you can work for the other yr and the benefit to that is working for an employer who will help pay for your RN/BSN.

do you have any private colleges in your area without a waitlist? In my city we have a private school that has no wait list at all because there is so much competition with other cheaper programs. This is my back up if I don't get into one of the other less expensive routes. At least that way I will be starting nursing school in August no matter what! I am a single mom and just can't afford to sit around and wait to get in.
I'm currently in Community College and will graduate with my AA degree this semester. I've decided to go ahead and transfer to a University this Fall and finish my junior and senior year of Psychology. Afterward, I would most likely go to this private school near my house for their BSN accelerated program. Unfortunately, this private school only has an RN to BSN or Accelerated BSN program. There is no basic/generic program that I could just go into right away.
All the other private schools are far away AND they're extra hard to get into. It sucks! One Baptist Christian school wants THREE different Chemistry classes! Are they on crack? Anyway haha I'm happy with my decision. I've found a way to accomplish and fall back on something AND still get to be a nurse! I feel like this huge weight has been lifted. :bowingpur
