What hospitals are hiring I Chicago and what are the payrates

Specializes in Neuro, Neuro ICU.

I'm not from Chicago but live about 100 miles away. A friend of mine is moving to Naperville to be with her boyfriend and said that Silver Cross Hospital and Edwards hospital are both hiring. I'm not sure of details, but I'm assuming they are in suburbs, and I dont have any info on pay or how much experience they require either. this reply isnt very helpful, but maybe you'd be able to find the info online for these hospitals and see.

Specializes in Neuroscience/Neuro-surgery/Med-Surgical/.

Silver Cross hospital is only hiring experienced RNs for ER or OR. I just dropped off my resume last week....just on the off chance something else opens up soon.

Rehab Institute of Chicago is hiring, and I think there are a few openings at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I do believe both are hiring experienced RNs. Pay rates for both are in the mid $20's/hour, of course depending on experience.

Specializes in Critical Care, Patient Safety.

As far as I know, most hospitals are hiring for experienced RNs except for Stroger (Cook County).

New grads are a different story.

new grad payrates range from 24-27 in chicago and the suburbs. most of the hospitals are hiring but u have to have experience. if you are a new grad or with less than 2 years of experience it will b a challenge.

Specializes in NICU.

yeah, new grads are somewhat SOL in the city of chicago right now. Pay ranges between 24-27/hr like others said. As a new grad, DON'T work at Stroger. A) you won't get an interview, B) if you were to get a job, you won't last bc that place is hmm...ROUGH. And i'm not talking about the patients or the doctors. I'm talking about the nurses. They are amazing but you need LOTS of experience there.

Illinois Masonic

Rush

Northwestern

Resurection Health Care Systems (they have 7 hospitals or more)

Christ

Children's Memorial

Just to name a few....

The new grad job market here stinks. I graduated in November, and I probably sent out 80-90 applications as far as Milwaukee, Joliet, and Munster IN...and everywhere in-between. I just started a job last week! And everyone else is right...pay rates range in the mid $20s for new grads (but don't forget to add in that night shift differential!)

As far as who's hiring: unless you know someone at U of Chicago, UIC, and Northwestern don't even bother.

Specializes in Urgent Care NP, Emergency Nursing, Camp Nursing.

I have been specifically told by one of my clinical instructors whose day job is at Northwestern Memorial that NMH will only hire you as a New Grad if you did an internship or externship there.

You're right...if you did your final internship there you do have a chance at getting in as a new grad. One of my friends did just that, she's the only one from our cohort working there now.
