Hi guys. I am not trying to be negative, but am curious as to what you all find the most frustrating or annoying about nursing school. Is it the teachers, classmates, all the test, ect....
Im in the 2nd quarter ADN program and it is getting only getting harder.

Not a fan of care plans, but they have helped me be more confident in clinical rotations and to recognize what I DO have the ability to do for the patient.
Not a fan of the disorganization or subjective nature when it comes to skills check offs, but then I learn a lot from mingling with the different instructors - particularly the fact that there is more than one way to skin a cat.
Not a fan that all my time is pretty much consumed by school but then I worked hard for this and signed up for it voluntarily knowing exactly what I was getting myself into and that it is temporary.
What I am a fan of is the passion and motivation of my classmates and the sense that I am doing something wonderful for myself and my family as well as for my patients. I intend to be a fantastic nurse one day. Not much room to focus on the parts I hate when I keep my eye on that. :)
Care plans! They have gotten much easier, and I can understand why we do them, but it stinks having to do a 45 page care plan and memorize patient meds for recall in one evening. I have two quarters (including the quarter I'm in now) and then my preceptership to complete before I graduate, and they are just now starting to let up on us on those darn care plans.
WOW a 45 page careplan! are they always that long?
The early mornings. I absolutely detest getting up at 4:30am and 5:30am for clinical/class.
If I did have to find something I HATE this would be it right here!!!! I am NOT a morning person and we do not have a night class. I try to do my clinicals at night and hope I can keep getting them that way. First semester we didn't have a choice though and I had the 6:30 AM clinicals. HATED IT. It's not to bad when classes are at 9. 8 is really pushing it, but clinicals at the crack of dawn, yep absolutely hate that. It's also hard to find childcare for my youngest when I am stuck with those and my husband is out of town. Who wants to wake up and watch your kid for an hour until daycare opens.

I don't know, we have never had one that we had to do that listed more then 3 problems so far. Although the careplans can be tedious and annoying I find them pretty simple. I can get one done in about 30 mins and have the instructor say I did a really good job on it. It just seems like a lot of common sense stuff to me. I had a good idea about them from this site before I even started school.
One thing I find peculiar (but don't want to go as far as to say 'I hate') was when I was working on my pre-reqs, the classes often graded soft, and in fact, it was very common for tests to be graded on a curve (drastically)...only to jump to the nursing program of the same school and find they don't play around...and they live by 'it is what it is' style grading.
It's completely understandable why since you're dealing with people's lives, etc. But it's still a jarring change...also, this living on the edge thing where one bad week where you bomb a test, and you could be out (we have to maintain a passing average to participate in clinical and if you can't participate in clinical, you can't pass the course).
So I wouldn't call it a 'I hate' thing as much as an 'eye opener' revelation

For the most part, I love nursing school. I have great and supportive instructors, very intelligent and capable classmates, and a good clinic site. I have to admit though, I loath Nursing Research and Evidenced Based Practice. Very interesting and useful information packaged into an absolutely horrible class. I also don't like being made to feel guilty for not studying 12hours/day and still maintaining a B+ average.
