Hey guys! So working on getting my first assignment...I've spoken with multiple travel agencies and haven't settled on a particular one yet, but these are the options TaleMed is offering me. No information on pay packages just yet. What experience do you guys have with these locations and/or hospitals? Any advice appreciated, good or bad! TIA! :)

1. St. Mary's Medical Center – Grand Junction, CO

2. Pagosa Springs Medical Center – Pagosa Springs, CO

3. Parkview Medical Center – Pueblo, CO

4. Community Hospital – Grand Junction, CO

5. Swedish Medical Center - Englewood, Colorado

6. Medical Center of Aurora - South in Aurora, Colorado

7. North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, Colorado

8. Rose Medical Center in Denver, Colorado

I just read on one of the Facebook grouos about a bunch of travelers getting their Jan contracts cancelled in CO so I'd make sure to ask your recruiter about that. I didn't really pay attention to why but I think it had something to do with a bunch of the HCA facilities developing their own float pool or seasonal contracts.

What nursing agencies does St Mary's in Grand Junction CO work with?? Wanting to try an assignment there if available.

Are you signed up with agencies now and none of them staff it? If no one here posts an agency suggestion, you can always call the hospital and ask who staffs it. Some Colorado hospitals hire seasonal directly. But unless you know there is an open assignment there in your specialty, this may be a lot of work for nothing.

If you don't know about their needs, check the hospital's recruiting page - if they don't have open jobs on the unit you are interested in, they probably don't have a travel need. You could also start by cold calling the manager of the unit of interest and asking. If that turns out positive and she wants you, you are now in the driver's seat when you call agencies about the assignment you already have.

When I get a list like that from my recruiters I get either gross pay as well or combined rate. So in your case :

Denver $1650/wk or $33/hr combined rate

CO Springs $1700/wk $34/hr combined rate

ETC.

If they don't give you at least some details it makes it hard to even know who to pursue. I also tell my recruiter exactly what I am looking for. In my case I say ICU, days ONLY, can start on X date. at least $1800/wk looking for California, Oregon, or Washington. Or I might say I want a rural area with outdoor stuff available. It just depends but the more upfront you are with what you want the better your recruiter can do for you. Definitely have them give you some pay info when you are getting a list of sites though.
