What Grades Do I Really Need To Be Accpeted?

Hi, I'm going to be graduating highschool next year and want to apply to the four year B.Sc.N program. I was talking to my dad, who is a teacher at a university and he said I will probably need better grades to get accepted into the program. I am getting high 80's and low 90's in all my subjects, and I don't know if those grades will be good enough to be accpeted. Do any of you know if those are good enough? Also, What is the difference between the BN and B.Sc.N? Thank you so much to anyone who can help me.

Are you from Canada or the U.S.? Do you intend to go to a public university or a more selective private one - or maybe even a junior/community college for your pre-reqs?

I live in Canada. I'm probably going to go to a public university, or do a collaborative program with a college.

I know absolutely nothing about the Canadian university system, so I'll leave this one to someone else. I will say - though - good luck! :)

well thank you anyways

I know nothing about your system either, BUT if you were my daughter and were expressing similar interest I would make an appointment with a nursing advisor at a school that is of interest to you and pose these questions to him/her. Even in the United States the grade issue can vary from town to town and state to state. Here, it all depends on how many applicants there are for available student positions. For example, one college I applied to only REQUIRED that it's students have a 2.50 Grade Point Average (highest here is 4.00, unsure if this is the same in Canada) but since you have 300+ applicants for 60 positions they take those with the highest GPA's first. For us, this effectively meant that if we wanted a position we pretty much needed grades that were as close to perfect as possible. Since each college is a little different, I'd advise you to go directly to your schools of choice (or phone them) and get the information you need that's specific to that school. Good Luck!

I just had to upgrade a lot of subjects and nursing in most canadian universities and colleges do require you to have at least an 80% adverage. In Calgary and Vancouver its around 82% at least. So keep your maths and sciences high (ie Calculus and Biology) And your english too sweetie!

it totally depends on the school and the applicant pool. I've been told to keep my grades at 85% and higher. but then again, they do take in to account if you are a mature student or transfer student.

what school are you looking at?

future nurse 2005 - I think I can handle 85% or higher, I'm looking at the collaborative program between Seneca and York University. Also, I'm active in the school, I'm in band, on student council and many other things, will they take that into account?

Well my daddy was a professor at a Canadian university too! A Calculus prof. I get 80% paid for and the rest is OSAP. I got in without the school knowing who my dad was, and I got in with a 85 average.

i'm applying to Seneca/York too!!!

pm me if you want more details! I met with them and got lots of info! When are you hoping to start?
