If you don't mind sharing.....what are they offering? The rates I have been quoted are around $28-30/hr for Hawaii positions. They usually say the hourly pay rate isn't as high as some of the mainland positions because of what they have to pay for your housing.
The companies I have talked with only give a set amount for travel (that ususally doesn't even cover the airfare). I have not found a company yet who will do airfare AND car rental.
Do you mind sharing who the company is? When are you going?

Now, see.....another thing. I was told that no hospital in HI will take a first time traveller. I haven't been anywhere yet. I have several recruiters working on an assignment for me right now.
I can't go to HI until summertime so it's no big deal. I figured I could get in two 8 week assignments or a 13 weeker before I was ready to go.
So, Nursefinders pays you $30/hr, pays for your entire round trip airfare, gives you a complete car rental while you are there, plus the usual insurance, license reimbursement, etc.? That's great. I definitely want to hear about it when you get there.
I hope they will have some ICU positions on Oahu this summer!

I dont' know what companies told you about that about taking first time travelers. Its recommended that you have more experience before working out here not mandatory from last i heard. i came here as a traveler with only one 3 month assignment under my belt. (mainland companies say what they need to deter you from coming out here. I was told i needed 5 years experience prior....)
Nursefinders seem like the best bet. the other companies out here won't give you a car.
YES THERE ARE ICU POSITIONS NEEDED!!!!! just depends on where you want to live/work.
ALOHA!!!
Malama,
Did you go with Nursefinders as well? Did they provide you with a car?
Okie,
I unfortunately did not go with nursefinders. I know the other local companies/agencies did not provide a car
Which hospitals have you checked out out here?

i'm assuming the lower pay is offset by the majority of their living expenses being covered. i'd hope so since that's like $10/hr less than some places' base pay.
hmmm assuming 40 hr weeks that's like $1600 less pay per month. depending on what they cover, that may or may not be reasonable.
