Panama City??
Hello, Thanks for writing. So how is Bay Medical? Do they use travel nurses there? I am going to HI. for my first assignment. But would like to go to Panama City next I think. Those are the places I have never been and couldn't afford to live at. So why not visit on 13 week assignments. LOL. Do you work med/surg?

Panama City??
Are you working on your pre-req's right now? What area of Nursing do you see yourself when you get done with school? I have done a lot. I worked 5 years with spinal cord injury pediatric and young adult home health vent dependant pt's. That was high tech. I took care of 44 paranoid schizophrenics for 2 years. It was a Health Department, intergrated living arrangement. So that was interesting. I did oncology my last job. Chemo certified. Gave a lot of bld and bld products to the CA pt.s It was a pulmonary unit too. So lots of chest tubes. Etc. Anyway. What ever you do. I am sure you will be great. You seem really kind. In nursing you will find. That Kindness will get you very far. I wish you all the luck and happiness in all you do. :studyowl:

Panama City??
How long have you lived there? Do you know what Rn's get paid there? So you are a student? Good for you. Hang in there. I haven't got my license yet. So I will probably take a 13 week assignment until I get it. So maybe in April/May. If I find any openings. Thanks for you response.

Come to America to Have your Baby!!
I hope I didn't come across wrong. I totally agree with Zashagalka. I found his comment as very intelligent and useful information. I have to try (especailly at work) not let it get under my skin. Because it is VERY irritating that our country gets taken advantage of so much. If I went to their country. I would probably be more likely to get shot. Than to get FREE medical care, etc..But I am like Zashagalka. Some of it is of our own doing. Our government needs to tighten some things a bit. I am all about helping our own first. There are bred, born, USA babies /Mothers we need to attend to. Please don't take this wrong. I love children from EVERYWHERE. But sometimes charity should start at home. As I said. Go to the countries these people have come from. See if we are welcomed with open arms. LOL. Not likely. I really enjoy these forums. I feel that everyone has a point that is good. Maybe at times I don't feel as strongly. But almost always they have a very good POINT. Thanks for reading. I don't usaually write so much. It is New Years EVE. I am babysitting. My 10 1/2month old Grandson is sleeping. I am trying to stay up until the NEW YEAR>>>LOL:balloons:

Come to America to Have your Baby!!
HELLO, i JUST WANTED TO SAY i LIKE YOUR RESPONSE. AS NURSES WE REALLY CANNOT BE JUDGEMENTAL. IF WE DO, IF AFFECTS OUR WORK PERFORMANCE. THE PATIENT THEN WILL SUFFER. IT ISN'T WORTH IT TO ME EITHER. I DON'T WORK IN LABOR AND DELIVERY. BUT I AM SURE THERE ARE TIMES THE SITUATION GETS ON A PERSON'S NERVES. ESPECAILLY WHEN YOU ARE THE TAX PAYER PAYING FOR IT. BUT THAT IS WHEN YOU HAVE TO SAY AS YOU DID ABOVE. GOOD ATTITUDE!! HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I ended up calling HR from the place I worked and got a copy of my one year evaluation. It was was an accurate account of my patient care. So I am planning on using it if needed. Happy New Year to all...:balloons:

Panama City??
I am new at traveling. But 17 years of hospital/home health/hospice work. Was wondering if anyone has worked in Panama City, FL. I was thinking about requesting it for my 2nd assignment. (If there are any openings.) Just thought I would request help before I took a 13 week assignment. I have found this site so very helpful. Thanks for your comments. Happy New Year..

hi
I would love to work in the UK. What are the chances? I have 17 years of Med/surg oncology telemtry, pulmonary, experience. I am not from FL. But I am applying. Go to the FL. licensure site. Follow their directions completely. I even printed them off and marked them out as I went. You will have to request for the finger print cards. It has to be theirs ONLY. It only took 6 days for me. Good luck..

Made a mistake last night.
First of all. Giving an NPO DNR a few sips of apple juice is nothing to beat yourself up over. Nor the nurse that didn't give you report to treat you like that. Yes it was a small mistake. But I bet the nurse that gave you a hard time about it. Has made worse mistakes. So learn from it, then let it go....This is from a person that has been an RN for 17 years. LET IT GO...LOL

Inquiry about travel nursing
Thanks for your positive input. The way I look at it . I am on their turf. If I can't adapt accordingly. I have no business going. I still haven't been submitted to HI coordinator. She is on vacation until Tuesday. How long will it take? Where are you working? Any pointer's?? I am about to bust. I haven't told any of my family. I am afraid it might not work out. But it is a big thing to me. I would of never had the opportunity otherwise. Plus I love being a nurse. So it is like hitting the lottery. I am hoping to get there before long. Please pray for me.

Inquiry about travel nursing
Hello, I am a blonde headed blue eyed girl from texas. I have been a nurse 18 years. I am compassionate to all. I am planning on a travel job in Hawaii. Will I be accepted? As I said I haven't ever felt or acted superior over anyone. I have always been able to adapt to any situation/people. I will not cross a line,I made that known to my travel company up front. Thanks

after 17 years of hospital work. i decided to travel. i ran into some problems. the hospital i was working at last. simply say " we don't give references", when the recruiter called. probably because of high turnover they don't want to take the time. other references were consider to old. i wasn't able to use a job that i held for over 10 years. because it was '94. the other reference i used i had worked there for 2 years. due to unsafe nurse/pt. ratio etc. i quit. when the recruiter called there. i was given a negative ref. because i did not give a 2 week notice. the recruiter then said, after working on an assignment for 3 weeks. that due to the negative reference. they could not let me represent their company. so the next company i applied to. i gave a dr. as a reference. because he did observe my work first hand. i worked 7p-7a. he did his rounds at 5am. he said that when he knew i was the nurse assigned to his pt that night. he knew that the i's were dotted ant t's crossed. the recruiter said "no it wouldn't look good if i used a dr.". i could list some managers but i don't feel they would be positive.sure, i worked well side by side with them. doing extra shifts whenever needed. taking 12 pt's and charge on nights they "couldn't find help", etc..., but once i decided to move on. they barely spoke.:smiley_ab just wondering if anyone else has found them with any of the above problems? i am almost to the point of saying heck with it and work at mcdonalds. but i don;t have any references for there either. any suggestions?? thanks. happy holiday!!! p. s. i can;t help it. i love the icons...lol:redbeathe
