Contract Question: Is it standard to state in contracts that you are not allowed to disclose salary and benefit information? Isn't this against your freedom of speech? Is it standard for there to be a penalty for not working these hours beyond housing?
  2. I have heard that South Carolina has a slow turn around when applying for travel positions, do you find this true? I have been waiting on MUSC for about 2 weeks now, so far i haven't heard of any other ICU available in the Charleston area. I find this hard to believe, but i really want to come to the area...
  3. We as nurses have to deal with a variety of people, cultures, personalities, attitudes, and dilemmas every day of our working lives. One must respect the situation. empathize with the people. AND QUIT saying " im so sorry im so sorry" we are not a meager perfession and as soon as we quit accepting that. The better off we are. excuse the expression but i love being a nurse but i will not bend over and take it ! from those who are disrespectful and abusive! ~United we stand~
  4. Looking into traveling to South Carolina - Charleston area. Any recommendations for hospitals? What is the cost of living/ pay rate/ nurse pt. ratios (ICU)
  5. :nurse:Hello im looking to return to traveling/ icu . i was interested in oregon esp the portland area. Can anyone give me some information on Area hospitals positive/negative pay rates ratios etc. I would appreciate it thank you !!!
  6. Question: Anyone know of ACLS classes available coming up in March?!?!
  7. sorry about that. yes i stay in hawaii. been here for a few years already. where you looking to work once you get your rn?
  8. I wanted to start one new thread for all nurses of hawaii! One place to talk story about everything we love/and not love about nursing! I came here as a traveler years ago and stayed ever since. Its a wonderful and unique place to live and work. Love to hear from ya Aloha! :welcome:
  9. Are you still in school? how much longer till you get your RN?!?!?!?
  10. Okie, I unfortunately did not go with nursefinders. I know the other local companies/agencies did not provide a car Which hospitals have you checked out out here?
  11. Night nurse - gregory issacs Never again - nickelback:balloons:
  12. NurseFinders! Specialized (agency only) Island Nurses. those are some other options... w/ aloha
  13. Glad to see you are returning to the islands. E komo mai! 1. I would NOT work for altres. I and several people i know have worked for them. Its not a good experience if you are looking for a Travel assignment with them. I would recommend Nursefinders or Specialized. A company with more ALOHA! St. Francis is now Hawaii Medical Center If you have any more questions feel free to let me know Aloha
  14. Med/Surg Ratios Straub 1:5 I believe. you also have nurse's aides to assist you Hawaii Medical Center East? Hawaii Medical Center West : I believe is 1:4 but that is primary care nursing... no aides Queens/ Castle i believe are higher. i have had the opportunity to work there but not on the med/surg floors.. GOOD LUCK!!!
  15. I dont' know what companies told you about that about taking first time travelers. Its recommended that you have more experience before working out here not mandatory from last i heard. i came here as a traveler with only one 3 month assignment under my belt. (mainland companies say what they need to deter you from coming out here. I was told i needed 5 years experience prior....) Nursefinders seem like the best bet. the other companies out here won't give you a car. YES THERE ARE ICU POSITIONS NEEDED!!!!! just depends on where you want to live/work. ALOHA!!!
