What floor did you like best as a CNA/PCT?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hi guys! Im just curious what floor seemed the best working as a CNA or PCT? I have just finished CNA school and take my state test in 21 days. I also start pre-nursing in the fall. I plan on continuing my education and shoot to become a Midwife with a doctorate! Should I try to work in a unit that will help me in the future? Any and all opinions are welcome!

I was about to reply with Post Partum, then thought I should actually read your post first. Lol. Then of course I saw you want to be a Midwife. I enjoyed PP very much as a patient care tech.

Real quick, just a heads up, there is a difference between Midwife and Certified Nurse Midwife. In the future I recommend using CNM when speaking of your goals. I recall in a paper I wrote for my OB rotation, my instructor, a CNM, correcting me on this. Huuuuge difference in education level. Good luck!

Hi! I was CNA when I was in RN program. I think it is great idea to work as a CNA while you are pursuing your dream career. I learned a lot and CNA experience looked great on the resume once I started looking for RN job. If you work as a CNA while going to school, I recommend to work some units not too hard. I was float CNA, so I went to many units. I thought Psych unit was physically easy, and I still had energy to study after my shift in Psych unit. ICU wasn't bad either.

Good Luck!!
