exercises can I sneak in during the day? I am trying to lose some weight and would like to find a more healthier lifestyle any suggestions?
Thank you for taking the time to read this email.
Have a wonderful week!
Sistermike, it's not the 30 minutes for most of us, that's just an excuse. It's getting into the habit, being comfortable, making a routine, etc. My problem is that I put it off, and then I've already showered. Or I have to start fixing dinner. Or I just ate dinner. Or I'm going to bed soon and NOW I only have an hour to finish that assignment/reading. We all have so much to do every day that fitting in something that a lot of us don't enjoy is tough. I do it in spurts - I'll be good for a few weeks, then stop for a few months, then repeat.
I think that is a problem for most people, and it used to be an issue for me as well. It took me quite a while to make exercising a regular routine in my day. But after FORCING myself to stick with the routine for a few months straight, it has become habit. Sometimes I still find it hard to get up and go exercise, but I think of the euphoric feeling I get afterword and it motivates me.
I also think that finding an exercise that you enjoy is a major factor in maintaining a routine. People need to make exercise an enjoyable experience, otherwise there is no motivation to start in the first place.

I agree, and I disagree (no offense meant!). I enjoy exercise, but when I started, it was pure hell. You have to be in some semblance of good shape before it's enjoyable. Even if I take some time off, like if I'm sick . . . starting back is hard and not fun. But after I start getting into shape, the endorphins kick in, and I do enjoy it. I don't always feel like it, but afterwards I feel great. It's definitely worth putting the effort into whatever you can work in. So beginners, just hang in there, and pace yourself.

True. If someone is very out of shape and has not exercised in a long time (or never in many cases), any type of exercise seems like pure hell. It took me a few months before I began to really enjoy running (that is my activity of choice -- I HATE weight exercises, although I should start doing them). Now I run 3 - 5 miles a night and do long runs (10 + miles) on weekends.
I better start using the elliptical or else I am going to have some serious arthritis later in life.
