As I was typing away in another post, I realized that my commitment of 'every other weekend' is not clear. Is a weekend Fri-Sat-Sun, or just Sat-Sun? When does it start?I'll be working 3p - 11:30p, e/o weekend. Does anyone have any idea how this schedule works? I was told there is a degree of self-scheduling. Its 40h/week, biweekly pay.
Every hospital I've worked at, if you worked Days or PMs (lik eyou will be) then the "weekend" is Saturday and Sunday. If you work night shift, the "weekend" is Friday and Saturday. But every place is different.
It really depends on your NM or who is doing the scheduling. At my first job, I worked 7P-7A and I was off every weekend. Well the weekend was S/S so I had to work every Friday! I never felt like I had a true weekend off because I worked for the first 8 hours of every Saturday and I had to sleep the next 6. It's not standardized but I would not be surprised if you were working on Friday before your weekend off.
