There are so many demands for nurses that I wonder why leave from one hospital, to get into another hospital that is going to have the same issue. Let's face it, nurses are in demand and the shortage is only getting bigger. So then what entices you to join the next place???

There is no nursing shortage, really. Ok, perhaps in areas that are totally unattractive or jobs that work people like crazy but do not pay well (home care case management .... and others).
Where I work, the "shortage" is due to hiring freezes...

Word of mouth from other nurses. Although not always 100% reliable, the grapevine has it's merits. Especially if you consistently hear that a certain place is a wonderful (or horrible) place to work.

What enticed me to switch employers? I received an opportunity to escape shift work and bedside nursing, and I would have been crazy to not jump into greener pastures.
