Help me brainstorm...what else should I be including on my nursing resume to make sure I'm not forgetting anything? I have my education, licenses, certifications, work history, etc.
Just not sure what else I can put when describing my last position (PCU RN)...I feel like that section looks weak. I mean, I did patient care. How can I expand on that? I've listed my precepting, special roles I held, superuser areas, committees. But my primary job was patient care. How detailed do I have to get on what I did all day? Assess, monitor, educate...what else is there?? I don't want to put a bunch of nonsense in there to over-inflate what I did.

Perhaps give a bit of detail as to what type of patient population? Where I work we have 8 different specialty ICUs, all serving drastically different populations. I work Trauma ICU, so I would briefly detail what types of traumas I routinely see rather than listing basic ICU tasks, if that makes sense.

This. PCU means something different in every hospital. Also, I would emphasize whatever you think they are looking for. For example, my resume is filled with oncology, but if I were applying for a CVICU job, I would emphasize my cardiac experience (interpret tele strips, what gtts I've managed, etc).

Other sections that you can add: Volunteer Work, Professional Organizations, Languages.
As far as describing your last position, instead of describing your job duties [which is in essence your job description], bullet-point the special roles you held, committees you were on, the precepting, awards, etc. This will help distinguish you from other applicants.
