Hello my fellow Agency Nurses! ;) I want to see what type of things your agency does to try and keep you. I know we are known for bouncing from one agency to the next, but what is it that your current agenecy does or doesn't do that is either keeping you motivated and wanting to work:lol2: , or making you want to leave find a new one.:nono: I want to see how my agency compares to the rest. :p

My NYC agency sends out b-days card to all of their nurses, and even has a "Nurse of the Month" award for each RN, LPN, and CNA. Is this normal??

Thanks for your input!

This would be very interesting to know. I don't know of any in this area (LA.) that seem to offer motivation!

I'm curious to know as well. I am a Travel nurse who works with an agency. I read a lot of negatives that other agencies are doing and the warnings the other RN's are giving. I just want to see if my agency is up to par or if there is something I can suggest to them.

Come on Nurses!! Anybody??

My Agency, a small one on the Western Slope of Colorado, knows me individually, are staffed with Nurses, pays me top dollar, takes the Nurses view SERIOUSLY automatically if there is an issue by a facility, and ALWAYS is respectful. I did get a nice weekend get-a-way gift for Christmas but "the Boss" forgot Nurses Day (in acknowledgement) lol.. I teased him about it the other day and intend to remind him next year.

Forgot Nurses Day?! haha well you make sure you remind your boss next time! That's so nice that you got a weekend get-a-way. My agency had a nice Christmas party for us at this amazing place in NYC. We we on an enclosed rooftop overlooking Manhattan. They also do a lot of work with HHA's. About two weeks ago, there was a banquet thrown for the newest HHA's in NYC. They all received awards, dinner, prizes, and met the CEO.

A lot of work with HHA? Is that a facility? or are you referring to Home Health?

I used to work in NY as a clerk... many moons ago... almost another lifetime ago.

The banquet sounds nice. We are WAY too small for that.

Yes, Home Heath Aides. My agency has a few nurse educators who teach anyone who wants to become an HHA, how to become one. They also do a lot of re-certification right in the office in their mock hospital setting to make everything easier for us nurses.

Where in NY did you work??

Downtown, John and William. An Insurance Co. and a Brokerage House.

911 hit me in the seat of the pants as I was in upstate NY the year before to show my kids the east coast. After 911 I was a Camp Nurse in upstate NY; visitng Ground Zero was therapeautic.

Yeah, 9/11 hit all of us hard. I have been to Ground Zero a few times, and the Towers a bunch when I was little. Everytime I have friends come visit, they ask to go there...I have yet to walk away dry-eyed.

Heh, where in NJ do you live or are you from? I was born and raised in JC.. lol

I was born and raised outside of Westchester, NY. I moved to Brooklyn after college, and recently moved to the Newport area of JC. I love it so far. I have only been there for a month, but it's definitely a place I can see myself staying for a few years. Where in JC were you??
