What Do You Hate About Nursing School!

Published

I had an aweful day and need some humor to boost my mood.

O.K. I'll start.

Things I hate ablout nursing school!

When you get to clinical and your patient has been discharged, because you have to start a whole new careplan on a different patient.

When you find art history class difficult because you are trying to use critical thinking on your art exams.

When the ex-nurses aid that you have class with always tries to correct the instructor on every procedure because she "Worked as an aid for two years and that's not how they did it"

Let's vent everyone and try to add a little humor. Sometimes if I don't laugh about these things I just might cry. I'd rather laugh about them and keep some sanity (what little I have left at this point). Oh my goodness listen to me it's only October.

Things I am grateful for:

finding this site and seeing that I am NOT alone.

skills lab tuturs that show you things as many times as required so you learn it.

having a next door neighbor that is a rn to run to and ask questions and is happy to explain them to me.

I hate the fact the I just found out last thursday 10/7 that on this thursday 10/14 they have decided to drop the midterm bomb on us and I only have 7 days to study 1/2 the semster (800 pgs) and that it will only be 50 questions! :angryfire :uhoh3: :crying2:

-Charting! (something that will only get worse as an RN)

-rude nurses who act like you are the biggest inconvenience to them (don't they remember what is was like??)

-lack of sleep

-not having enough time to even pee

-the fact that graduation isn't until May 2006 and THEN we have to pass boards!!! :uhoh3:

I hate how once I get one chapter read I have about a 2 minute break before I have to open the next.

I hate how we have 2 weeks between exams, so that when I think I have time to sit and "relax" since I just got a 91 on my first exam, I realize that in 1 week is exam 2 and I have not started to study yet.

I hate the nurses who walk around the floor when we're there with their noses 3 feet up in the air, refusing to even look our way.

I hate how I just realized that even though I thought I was done, I have a Medical Terminology test Thursday and still one chapter to even read in the book, and then I have to study chapters 1-6!!

I hate how I have no time to do anything fun, anything that I might enjoy doing.

I hate how I'm so stressed that my IBS is constantly acting up, my shoulders and neck are so tense and sore that when you touch there it's as hard as a rock, and that I am unable to eat breakfast in the morning because I was grinding my teeth in my sleep all night (TMJ) and the pain is so horrible I'm about to cry.

I just HATE being stressed and I have other stuff going on besides school and I have handled it all so well until now but I feel like I'm going to lose it!!! I have been so snappy and mean to everyone, but I can't control it. My nerves are shot.

*sigh*
