What is Corporate Medicine?

Hello everybody,

quick question, in doing a job search I came across a job posting looking for an RN for Corporate Medicine. In the description and duties part, they basically have the same list and description for any other specialty, eg: Emergency, Neuro, Ortho, Med-Surg, etc. So, I tried looking it up and I am still left with no answers. Anyone knows what they are referring to and what would be the job that an RN would be doing in such department?

Thanks for any input!

I'm thinking it's contracted Occ Health.

A couple of the huge businesses in my area have positions like this. From what I understand it's primarily occupational health, but may include low-level urgent care/clinic functions as a benefit to employees. The goal is to provide an in-house service so that people don't have to call in sick or take time off to go get checked out for minor illnesses. When I worked in outpatient radiology, we would occasionally get orders from primary care doctors or NPs in these settings for things like wrist x-rays to rule out possible sprains.

I think it's kind of like a school nurse for grown-ups
