Nursing Students SRNA

Hello! I'm a first year nursing student, currently working on my ADN. Obviously in order to apply to CRNA schools, I'm going to need my BSN (or any other related field BS). Herego, I'm going to have to tranfer eventually.

One of my priority goals in order to build an impressive resume is gaining the ICU experience. This was when I had the idea that perhaps I could be able to get my BSN online while working (whether schooling part time or not, I haven't decided). It would be very convenient for me.

Here's my question: Forget all other variables that need to be considered in order to be adequate for CRNA school. For an individual who hypothetically surpasses ALL requirements, however got his/her BSN ONLINE, are his/her chances of getting accepted any less than someone who got their BSN through traditional classroom schooling? I'm curious, thanks!

I am currently doing just that. Working full time and getting my BSN online full-time. I have been told that as long as the school has been accredited and everything it is just like getting your degree in the classroom. When you graduate your diploma will say where you got your degree not that you got it online and that is what graduate schools will see. I am also hoping to go to anesthesia school and was told online BSN wouldn't hurt my chances of getting into a program.

As the previous post stated, yes it is possible to apply to CRNA school with your BSN degree from online (as long as the school is accredited etc). I know of a CRNA who got her ADN, worked full-time in the ICU to gain her critical-care experience while obtaining her BSN degree online at the same time. So if you go with this route, I would try and get high grades in all your science classes and obtain the highest GPA possible in both your ADN & BSN. And I'm sure you already know that the GPA is one aspect- CRNA admission committee will look at the whole picture of an applicant. So you're on the right track, wish you the best of luck!

Yes I received my ADN then did my BSN online while working. I will start my anesthesia program August 2012.

This is a frequent question that we receive at the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia. We recognize online BSN programs as long as they are accredited. Also, a strong GPA and high acuity ICU experience will help strengthen each application.
