I see that a lot of review classes cause people to pass but what about sleep and diet and anything else. My school has on the average 95% pass rate. At the last quarter we have a review class and every quarter we have to pass an exam to continue on to the next nursing classes. I was wondering is it a good idea to start studying now? I won't be take the exam until Dec, 2005. Any good ideas besides the study review idea's . Thanks for any help in keeping what hair is on my head. Tim. :chair:

My instructor always preached..........review some each night so its not so hard. Read over some each night. I loved the NCLEX books. They have lots of practice disks and tests. I thought they were great help. I usually would take some practices tests each evening and read through info.

Yes start to study now. A good diet, sleep, exercise, review, good self-esteem, and self confidence helps. Good luck

I feel doing some questions each nite is good. I like to do question by topic. I studied by using mostly CD The spring house review that has 3000 question is great cause you can pick a topic and how many question you want to do. That helped cause I can organize my studing better that way. I stays in your brain longer if you keep similar material together rather than taking random questions from different topics.
In a psy class that taught about learning and memory they gave tips on studing
Catergorizes material was a plus so doing maternity questions, peds , med surg in grouping opposed to mixing the question is better for studing purposes. so pick cd that you can do by category.
some studies say studing early in the morning help you retain material better so I often got up early to study but this depends also on your body if your mind is clearer and sharper at night than that is your good time.
Eating protien helps the mind be more alert so, so I usually got my breakfast early not a heavy breakfast just like a small egg sandwich for example
no caffeine when studing because it has been found that since it contricts vessels that you get less oxygen so with less oxygen to your brain less alert your are. So while on occasion I had to drink a cup to stay a wake I found I did better to nap when I needed sleep instead of forcing my self awake with coffee.
I ate raisin for energy and excercised between studing this helped my brain get oxygen by increasing some circulation.
I used my books as reference books and looked up only key topics that I would seem to not know when doing questions
Gosh I hope something I wrote helps.
They say to do at least 3000 questions before taking the test
I tried to do 75 questions a nite by topic and review only what I seemed weakest in
Kaplan questions are the most similar to the format of the test so I did the kaplan CD and online review questions since they also included some of the new type of test questions that will come on the test
Good luck
