Hey guys I'm new to the business and was wondering what type of dressing a c- section would require? if we could talk about it that would be great ?

Is this a homework assignment? What type of dressing do YOU think might be used?

I haven't learnt about wound dressings yet but it is asking me this question and I am stressing... sorry

No need to be sorry- we often have students come here and post homework questions and pretend they are 'just curious' or whatever.

But when you TELL us it is homework- well, then rather than just hand you the answer (which contributes nothing to your growth and critical thinking) we want to know what you know so far that might lead you to the answer.

SO- when you say 'it is asking me this question'- what is 'it'? Your textbook? Because if so the answer is likely there- you just have to search for it. So let's start with- what type of incision and where? Would you expect there to be a surgical drainage tube placed?

Hey! Thank you for being so kind and helpful but I believe I have found the answer to the question (assignment), and I had been reading the question wrong. It was about what technique I would use for changing the dressing for a caesarean section, and not what dressing it would be.

Thank you for helping though! ?

It's refreshing to see when someone takes the initiative to independently research/investigate a problem.  Esp when so many come on post just expecting to be supplied an answer.

This is meant as a compliment to you and may your future studies go well for you. If you keep on striving to learn, you should do well.

On a c-section?!? No no no! Caesar dressing!

In all serious though OP, looking at type of dressing, there would be no single answer. Some docs have their own preferences. Sometimes patient factors require consideration. Most of our patients leave with gauze sponges, and ABD pad, and tape. Others leave with a Prevena vac dressing. Others may have something different (I’m not on the OB/GYN surgery team to know more than that). But glad you went back to the question and figured out what it was really asking- get in the habit of doing that to keep you on the right path.
