Hi everyone. What is the best way to decribe perdiem work with agencies to the general
Public, particularly the IRs and loan officers at banks?
I'm having the hardest time trying to explain it. Its not part time because there are no set number of hours a week that I'm working.other agencies I'm working 50 hours a week yet I'm not full time. Its not temporary because I ve been working for that agency for years.
I was denied a loan from the bacause they thought I had "unstable work" even though I made about 90,000(due to all the overtime and working with 3 different agencies at the same time).
The irs thinks I'm working with 7 different agencies and wants to change my taxable status. Its because (according to them) none of the agencies had reported I'm not working for them. Some of the agencies listed I haven't worked for in 3 years.
Any advice appreciated.

Well I'm honestly not good when come to tax info and stuff.... but I think you should clear some thing up with your previous agencies so they can tell the IRS you are no longer working for them....
As per explaining per diem....loan officers and banks know what per diem means.... And in their eyes all because you are getting work now, whos to say they are still going to need you next month? They know per diem is on an as needed bases, which does not guarantee income...
Are you working that many hours at the same facility? maybe you should ask them for a permanent position if you doing full time hours anyway?
I actually do home care. We aren't technically full time I guess even with full time hours. I guess its the agencies way of not having to provide benefits

Its not anything your doing different to deny your loan. This is what is wrong with the country. The banks are sitting on inordinate amounts of cash. The only people getting loans are the ones with 750-800 credit scores, large down payments and jobs they have been at for years and years. This is why housing starts are down. This all trickles down to the rest of the country. There are less jobs for loan officers, builders, carpet makers, roofers and ect. The pendulum has gone in the opposite direction. You make 90k per year and cannot get a loan. 5 years ago they would have hunted you down to give you one! Until the markets open up this is the way it will remain. Supposedly they will be doing more quantitiative easing next week so we will see where that takes us. In my own opinion, not anywhere good. It will only devalue the dollar. BTW, my former degree was in economics.

Casual, by choice, as needed.......?
Maybe, maybe not. But I think that since I can choose to work,or the agency can stop offering me hours at any time that I'm never permanent.
Hours have dried up(no more 60 hours but now I work 52 hours a week). There will always be work it seems in home care, unless the Medicaid cuts take effect.
Now the bigger issue is me facing the Irs but if I tell the agencies to take me off their employed lists that will work.
Banks don't want to hear about casual employment, thet care about permanent employment.
