What do your benefits cost?

I'm hoping to get a benefited position at my current job. When the benefits department emailed the details I was shocked. Pre-tax, out-of-pocket is almost $750/month for the PPO plan with dental and vision. This is for myself, husband and 2 children.

This is almost 2xs what my husbands plan cost right now and his plan is a better, more flexible one. Our local hospital plan is almost 2 1/2 xs cheaper for a better plan. Yikes. Just curious to hear what others are paying.

What! That's how much you pay just to get the plan? Not to actually use it? Mine costs $10 or $11 every 2 weeks. I only get medical and dental. I think vision was another $2. It is only for myself but still!. I get just the 1st level of medical so I have to use my hospital systems doctors. If I were to pay for the plan that I can go to another hospital system it would cost around $40 for medical and dental every 2 weeks I believe. $750 still sounds a lot to me though!

Too much in my book. My family plan for medical, dental, vision is roughly 370 a month. We have to use our hospital and md's in the plan. The cost went up 40 dollars a month and what was offered when down of course! Before, hospital stays were paid for a 100% after your 1500 deductable. Now they make YOU pay 5% of that cost AFTER your deductable is met! Dr fees the same and God help you if you need to have a second surgery. They only pay 50% of that one. Who makes up the other half?

about $50/mo for medical and pharmacy and $10 for dental, life insurance

At my employer we pay $900.00 per month for the family plan. That's only medical, folks. Of course it doesn't matter if you have one child (as I do) or two dozen, still costs the same.

I pay $55/month for medical/dental/vision/life for me and the kids. If it were just me, it would be free. When we had all 5 of us (myself, husband, and 3 kids) on one insurance plan, it was $120/month for the mediccal/dental/vision/life. It's pretty good insurance and our deductible is $250/year. When I had my baby and was working for the hospital where I had him, the total cost was $19,000 and out of that, I had to pay about $1500. We are very lucky and know we have it good when it comes to the insurance.

$150.00 a week, just for family medical. It is really killing us

For medical/dental/life insurance for my hubby and I, it costs roughly $200/month.

Wow, the costs of the previous posters just astound me! yikes!!!

I pay nothing for family of four, medical and dental included. I could get vision/chiropractic visits for an additional $30/month. It's crazy what some companies charge. I almost wonder if it would be cheaper for some to pay for a private plan unless they have a pre-existing condition?

We checked a private plan as well and it was about the same. $150.00 a week.

It is truly awful, and we are all healthy. This isn't just this one company that my husband works for, my company is the same amount of money.

Health insurance for family(4): $1,200/ year (employer picks up $12,000)

Dental Insurance for family(4): $280/year (employer picks up $850)

$1,000 deductible

$2,000 co-insurance

Out of pocket for insurance, deductibles, co-insurance=$4480/year for a family of 4.

Preventative measures are paid at 100%.
