i noticed there's a sticky about how foreign-educated nurses can break into the US job market. i hope there's one about foreigners studying nursing in the us, too. thanks!
Greetings to All, I am new to this site and have this short story of my own to share. I am from an IT background (8yrs) and my love for Nursing made me change my career all together. Went to US school, completed all prerequisites and finished my BSN in Dec05, appeared for NCLEX-RN on Jan-24 saw my result on web Jan-26 and I passed. I am a blessed RN now.
I have a job offer on hand from a Hospital and would need guidance:
1) Already started VSC process and all my Nursing transcripts are submitted to CGFNS/ICHP. I am still awaiting confirmation by mail of NCLEX result. Will I be given a License?? I ask bcoz I do not have a SSN# but I am legally in US (H4 status)
2) BON-Tx, will they give me a letter of eligibility for License and will this be accepted by VSC - CGFNS/ICHP??
Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. Its been a long haul for me but absolutely worth it. Happy Nursing !!

If I remember correctly, Texas is not going to issue you the license without the SSN#, but that is not an issue. Your employer can actually start the petitioning process now, they just need proof that you have passed NCLEX, an actual license is not required. Once immigration approves everything, and you are issued a document that will permit you to work, you will get your SSN# within a few days of that.
You do not need to have the Visa Screen Certificate in hand for them to start the process either. If they tell you otherwise, get another attorney.
Thanks so much Suzanne. I have been yearning to hear from you !! So the proof would be the mail I will be recieving of my NCLEX passing, correct? if Yes, should I send this passing result to CGFNS/ICHP or will this be sent by BON-Tx.
I read from your earlier threads that VSC is not reqd at the time of concurrent filing of I-140/485/765, but reqd by the time AOS is adjudicted (couple months say). Will this be safe??
I am just hoping that visas would be available and will not get exhausted (schedule A). I am looking for few attorneys and any info wld be much appreciated.
