A patient just finished her open-heart surgery. She has been prescribed compression stockings and anti-coagulant medication. The physio has also devised an activity/rest plan for her to encourage her early ambulation following surgery.
What barriers might the pt encounter that discourage the pt from preventative action to reduce the risk of DVT? I cant find any information about this? Help please

Think about what would prevent/make it difficult for the patient to get up out of bed and ambulate. Hint: This person just had their chest cracked open.

Toradol IM burns really bad too.
I tell my patients it's a free massage!
