What to ask for in a job interview?

Any rapidfire tips on what to clarify or ask for in a job interview for an APRN being hired on salary by a hospital? (Clinical Nurse Specialist specifically). I would likely be doing direct care as well as facility policy/protocol work and have a hand in billing (which I have experience in).

1. potential for productivity bonuses/evaluation increases

2. educational stipends/time off for conference for CEUs yearly

3. malpractice/dea/npi number cost coverage (~1300 in my state)

4. specialty certification stipend

What do you you all think are other important things to consider? Thanks!

Who is actually your boss and if there is anyone else who thinks they are.

Staff support and how much direct supervision you have over them.

Most common diagnoses billed at the clinic.

Expected appointment times.

Panel of patients you'll have.

Most common reimbursement, 3rd party, social insurance, self-pay, etc.

Salary + productivity bonus. Look for a percentage of revenue over your salary.

Don't sweat the little perks like paid credentials. Look for maximal income followed by other benefits, e.g. health insurance and whether they contribute to retirement. Don't let CME time count against leave time either.

I agree! Very important question..I got one direct supervisor currently and 4 other wanna be supervisors currently.

Ask about the patients and their needs. Show you have a genuine interest in them. Don't make it all about you and the pay/benefits/etc. Good hiring managers like to hire people who care about the patients, too.

What are the priorities/goals/etc. of the organizations leaders and your direct supervisor? How would someone in your position be able to help achieve those things? Is there anything they definitely DON'T want to see? or fear?

I appreciate this input, and agree it is so important to discuss the must crucial aspects of the position other than compensation. I have already discussed these very important issues at length, since the position is in my specialty area, which I am ridiculously passionate about :) We often forget that it literally is NEVER all about the $.

Hi mommy19! I had a question for you! I'm about to start in the OU AG CNS program and I saw in another thread that you are graduating soon. I had some questions including ones about realistic job placement. Is there any way on all nurses to message you? I created a username just to write this! :-D I was so shocked to see another ou cns student! Margaret at the front office is super helpful in advisement, but I wanted to talk to a real student who has experienced the program and has seen the real prospects! :-D
