Where: Eastern Kentucky University
When: Starts this Monday!
Classes: Nursing 112, Nursing 116...Clinicals start in March
How I am preparing myself: Enjoying the last few days of not having school. I know that come Monday, that I will be buried with reading assignments. Overall, I'm very excited and maybe just a little anxious. I think this will be challenging, although one I'm up to. I'm not sure what to compare nursing school to, I was in OR Tech school in the Army around 2000 and did well, so maybe things will work out just fine.
Work Schedule: Two days a week at the hospital, and call on the weekends. I will have plenty of time to study, but that could work against me if I don't manage my schedule and time.
Where are you attending: CCAC (pittsburgh) Allegheny Campus
When does your program start: MONDAY!!!! (1/12)
When are your orientation(s): Yesterday
What is your 1st semester schedule: I am an evening/weekend student so I have labs on Monday's, Lecture on Tuesday's and my clincals are on Wednesday's 3p-11p for the first semester.
How are you preparing yourself and/or family: Over break, I de-cluttered my house, cooked a lot of food that I could freeze so that the kids were stuck eating hot dogs and mac-n-cheese, made sure my shiny new uniforms were washed and pressed and ready to go, got my clinic bag together....told the kids they would have to help daddy get everything done!!
Will you be working fulltime/parttime/not at all: I work full-time...
Best of luck to everyone!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! WE DID IT!!!
I too have been trying to de-clutter and as far as meals, I have a 16 yr old daughter, a 7 yr old son and a husband who can cook for themselves ( well my son can't lol) so that is a big help. I am a life long low carb dieter so my meals are pretty basic...each morning is a protein shake sometimes with berries, lunch is a low carb wrap filled with turkey or ham, cheese and veggies, dinner is almost always a salad with some protein and ranch dressing. Then I snack on string cheese or nuts....easy and very quick so I will have more time to study. I don't think I would even attempt the nursing program if I had to work full time so I tip my proverbial hat to you for being able to :)
Where are you attending: University of Central Oklahoma
When does your program start: Jan 12th
When are your orientation(s): Jan 13th for the clinical site orientation
What is your 1st semester schedule: Medical Surgical Nursing I & clinical
Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing & clinical
Introduction to Pharmacology
Success in Nursing - course designed for stress relief (but it just adds more)
How are you preparing yourself and/or family: LOTS of cleaning!! We are hoping to get a dog here in a couple weeks so I'm also making sure things are ready for that.
Will you be working fulltime/parttime/not at all: Part time as a nurse tech on Sundays. I've found that the experience I get there is extremely useful for nursing school.
