  1. Hello, yes still happy with the Chamberlain program. Things I can tell you are, I enjoy the 8 week sessions, you can take. 1 or 2 classes for you basic courses, every instructor is different - some are very attentive and some don't say much. Some instructors are APA enforced, some are very laid back, some just read your posts and papers to make sure you understand. I'm entering into Pharm this session and start clinicals this fall. Time is going by soooo quick! Hope this helps. Any other questions please ask. KP
  2. Hello, I started the FNP program in Jan 2014. I have not had any problems. I enjoy the 8 week sessions and the flexibility. The pass rate I don't believe has been stated because it is a new program as of 2013. I think as the years go on the importance of an FNP is going to be crucial. I don't fear finding a job with any school I attend because of the need. I live in Wisconsin and have heard no one having any issues here. I am really happy that I chose Chamberlain, (I was worried, just like you). I have a year an a half left. I have peers that have doubled up on their courses and have decreased the timeWe do have a group on FB for FNPs, I have a small group in in contact with and we are able to converse continuously. In my group we have people who have just started to people who have begun their clinicals. The instructors are good. I have had one course where I couldn't get a hold of the instructor but that was because she had a death in the family. Their all very helpful and responsive. You can always ask questions on the board to the instructors or peers. Love, love, love not being in a class with people and scheduled. I can to this on my time. I hope this answers your questions. Feel free to contact me again. Good luck!
  3. Hello Lori, sorry a little late on the response. I have completed 5 course so far with no issues. I start clinicals in July of next year. Can wait all this busy work with basics of nursing and papers. This is what I meant by procedures, I probably should of used processes. Ie Sunday starts your ability to start to post on discussions. 2 discussions done each week. On the topic of the course give for you to research and discussion in threads. These must be completed by Wednesday. Papers you write seem to be on the 2 or 3 week then the 4 and 6 or 7 week of classes. The thing I found hard is that each instructor of course is different so you have to adjust to their ways. Some are very strict in what they want others are very laid back. The best part is you have them for 8 weeks and then you move on to the next class. No staleness of the course. I'm having a good time with the courses, no group projects and if I don't understand what they are asking I ask and get a response! Keep the questions coming, it's a big decision. I like that I can say that I have completed 5 courses in 8 months. I also am on line with a group that are all over the US and one is pregnant and will be off for a session or two to take care of the baby. Not a semester, just more appealing to my life! Kathleen
  4. Hi Lori, I can answer anything you'd like. It's a big deal to go back to school. For the first time I am taking two classes. I will not be done that next session. I work full time an found it hard to do the two classes. I do school work less than six hours a week, now that I have the procedures down. It took me awhile. Bit I started in January and it has been eight months and I can say I have less than two years left. Let me know if there is anything else I can answer. Kathleen
  5. Bejamin127, I am in the FNP program at Chamberlain and really enjoy it. I don't have to get online everyday. My first class was stressful because I haven't been in school since 10 when I finished my BSN, I had to rethink how to get into the process of online vs in class, there is a scheduled time you must be in i.e. you must have the 2 discussions posted by Wed by midnight and 1 reply to a discussion. The other discussion can be posted by Sunday midnight. The other thing is papers being due on Sunday Midnight and if I had questions how to get those answered. But I am completing my 5 class, doing 2 at a time and spend 2-5 hours a week on homework. Papers alot more time. You will have approx 3 papers in 8 weeks they seem to fall on 2,4,6 week of the course. I hope this helps!!!??? Kathleen
  6. RochSolid I have been in Chamberlain since Jan and love it! I did my research and looked around and this was the fit for me! 8 week courses and you can take 1,2,3 courses. Kathleen
  7. Hello, Nrsmile7499 (Carol), I am doing 2 classes also. I will be taking Statistics etc and Leadership in Sept. I only know of 1 other person who is doing this. I am looking to find others to see if this a good thing. The one I did speak with says these two courses are do able but lots of paperwork. If everything works out I will be in patho in November. Interested in hearing anyone comments. Kathleen
  8. Hello, all!!! I am in the FNP program at Chamberlain, I thought was too good to be true also but I have been there since January have had 5 courses and find it very easy to communicate with my instructors. Do your research, my state takes any accredited program and the schools around here and on line where much higher tuition for me. I am prior military. You best bet is to do what right for you of course!!! But the one thing I really like was the fact that the courses are 8 weeks. You may take 1,2,3 if you are not working. Good luck I hope you make a good choice for you! Kathleen
  9. Go with it Bronze1 I am loving this program. It took me a little to get use to the pace and deadlines, but I love the 8 week classes. I am enjoying the learning and I have teamed up with a few people on FB and talk about the classes and assignments. Good luck!!!!
  10. I have come to the decision on Chamberlain, I start Jan 2014. I got excepted to 3 different schools and what they were asking and for the money they were my best choice. I was impressed with the response I got back from them, the tuition and the comments left on multiple sites I looked at.
  11. I've researched other programs and this was not expensive for an FNP program. I just wish I had more input on what to expect!!
  12. I start Chamberlain FNP program January 6. I'm excited but a little worried I'm doing this alone. I live in Wisconsin and will be doing this online and working full time. Looking to reach out to fellow students who have applied or will be attending this college.
  13. I had to laugh, the patient had a allergy to butter!!! Another said she had allergies to any meds that started with a P. God I love the funny ones.
  14. As others have said each state is different. In Virginia each facility is different. The state law is very vague. I have done alot. Heparin, Dobutamine, Cardizem, blood, platelets, all salines, PCA (morphine & dilaudid), piggybacks and IVP. My friends in Cali that are RNs haven't done the things I've done. My advice is know your state and facility policy. Know your limits! I stop and read about the drug know what it does and know the dosage it must be delivered, review the orders! Don't take what the nurse before you has it at or has done. Be safe!!!!
  15. I'm glad I was an LPN first. Although it wasn't might first choice but as you said the wait lists are long. I have done alot with LPN. In the state that I'm in you are used just as an RN. I have been a nurse for a year and a half and have learned tons. I've worked telemetry in a hospital and love it. My only fear was I would be in a SNF. Although that is fine for those that love it I become too attached and love the fast pace. I am proud to be an LPN who is starting school this week in a BSN program. We all have to start somewhere!!!
