Western University MSN-E 2020

Published

Hi all!

I, being the impatient person that I am, decided to make a thread to discuss the upcoming cycle of applications for Western University of Health Sciences, Masters of Science in Nursing Entry program.

A little about me, my undergrad is a B.S. in Public Health, but I always was interested in the nursing field. After getting my CNA license I decided that this was the field for me and want to eventually go on to become a Nurse Practitioner. I've been working on my application and I'm very nervous/excited to hear back (even though that seems forever away haha). Anyone else applying for this cycle, and if so what are your thoughts on the program??

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

I'm not sure how to view my private messages! LOL

It's OK! I think it should show up on your notifications but if not, you can go to the little bell icon on the top right of the page and the notification should be on there for you to click ?

You can also go to the "Account" button on the top right and in the drop down menu it should have "Inbox" so you can view your messages.

If that doesn't work then let me know!

Hey guys!! ? I submitted my application oct. 13th! Does anyone know when we’re going to start hearing back? I know the application deadline is November 2nd, but I know some schools still let you know something before then if you already turned in your application.

Hi Jess!

This thread was mainly used by applicants who applied last year, but I found another more current thread where prospective students for this cycle are posting, so I didn't want you to miss out on their conversation! https://allnurses.com/western-university-MSN-e-t726441/?tab=comments#comment-7707602

Good luck with your application!

I'm hoping previous or current students can answer this question....I saw that one of the requirement is to obtain all your childhood immunizations from your doctor, schools or university. I lost my yellow card vaccination and my pediatrician is retired. Did any students have similar issues? I am currently reaching out to my undergrad school for my immunization records but am unsure it will have ALL.

Hi, my name is Maddy and I am currently enrolled in the MSN-E program and had the same problem! What I did was reach out to the hospital I was born at via email and they were able to send me electronic copies. Also, if you can not obtain specific vaccine records I believe a blood titer to check your antibody levels would suffice for that requirement, but I would reach out to the school to double check!

Thank you! I just reached out to the hospital I was born at and they said after 10 years records are no longer available and they werent able to provide me info on where to obtain them.

Oh no, I’m sorry! Yeah I’m thinking they would just be OK with the blood titers then. They were very understanding when I told them about my situation!

Of course! I believe I reached out to student health directly.

Hi All,

I am wondering if any current students can give me details on how student life is at western U-MSN-E. School schedule? what their days entail, start time and end time etc. I am  in between this program and an ABSN and to be frank I am worried if I can handle Western MSN-E curriculum.

Thank you so much!

Hi there!
So schedules vary per semester and will slightly differ person to person depending on the lab and clinical you are assigned to. For example, my schedule consists of lab Monday morning and I am free for the rest of the afternoon. Tuesdays we are in class from 8-5pm. Wednesdays I have one class in the morning and one class in the evening, and Thursdays and Fridays I have clinicals pretty much all day, but I have the weekends off. Again, each schedule will vary depending on the days you are assigned for lab and clinicals, but this will give you an idea on what it looks like.

I would like to mention that I have a friend in an ABSN track and our schedules are very comparable. Both programs work quick to get you accelerated into a nursing degree and both are wonderful tracks! Each will have its pros and cons, but if what you're really concerned about is if you can handle the curriculum, I am going to say that it is very doable! It is challenging but not impossible or any scarier than an ABSN track. Hope that helps and good luck on your journey to becoming a nurse!!
